The Rise of the Script Kiddies — KNK4LIFE.com
I was going through some old hardware today, and happened to dig up two old hard drives. They were of a decent size so i figured there were probably backups or file storage on them. I plugged them into a test rig and began exploring. Little did I know I’d stumble across some of my earliest websites! I literally found the first website I mad, along with a few others made shortly after.
One of the earlier sites just happened to be a Warez site I made (haha, i know, im a hax0r, I was 12 at the time, cut me some slack). It was a simple 3 column layout with stylish Photoshop 5.5 grafix circa 1999. I must say, I was impressed by my first feeble attempts at the fine art of web design. They were definitely not my best work, but I’ve seen much worse out there. Anyways, I was looking at the site and realized even back then, I was keen to the art of linking to my other projects. Among my other projects at the time, near the top of the 4 item long list of links.. was a link to KNK4life.com
For those of you who aren’t familiar, KNK4life.com used to be THE website for aim hacks and bots. This was back in the day when you AOL’s chat network was wide open to the public. You could get away with so much it is incredible looking back. Now that I manage multiple networks, I am kind of in awe how lax AOL was with security back in the day. But it allowed the script kiddie nation to have a grand ole time at their expense!
Needless to say, I clicked the link to see what had become of the website I used to frequent so often for those few short months when I was first introduced to coding, IRC, AOL bots, trojan horses, etc. It was a time of ignorant fun and harmless exploration. Kinda like experimenting with drugs, without the bad
consequences. I look back fondly on those days. It was the beginning of my journey into the world of programming, networking, and computer knowledge in general. Before that I just tinkered with my bike and skateboarded.
To be continued..
